Balm of Gilead

The most widely known use for balsam in the bible refers to healing balm of gilead Jer 8:22. When the tree gives it’s resin the bark must be lacerated. In like manner our Lord’s body was lacerated for our pain and sickness. Jesus became that balm. and mercy poued forth like oil He is our provision (atonement) Himself took our chastisement and by his stripes we are healed.
