Mary's Fragrant Offering

We  see the Miriam of Exodus was both jealous of her little brothers position as well as conspiring with her elder brother against God’s choice and Moses God given authority. We still see that in the church today. God chooses a younger man, or woman, separates him or her out for service and their  elder brothers and sisters in the Lord do not respect the anointing and the call of God on them. Rather to nurture that young one we become like Saul and want to throw a javlin through him or her. This is rebellion in the heart.

In contrast King David was one with wonderful attributes, who’s name is interpreted in Strongs as loving. Because David loved God and respected His choice of Saul as King, David would not rebel against the Lords anointed. Love and Humility was at the center David’s of Heart. Causing God to say “Your throne I will establish” and David “a man after my own heart”.

דּויד דּודדּויד דּוד dâvid dâvîyd daw-veed', daw-veed'; loving; David, the youngest son of Jesse: - David.

Now back to Mary of the new testament; Why would anyone name their child “rebelliously”. Especially when names and their meaning were so valued and held great importance in biblical times. As in Jesus day we are reminded of their bondage under Roman authority. All the Mays’ of Jesus day were found under roman rule. I find it interesting that on the afore mentioned accounts of Miriam/Mary (except chr 4:17*) the Israelites were in bondage by foreign rule and looking for a redeemer.

So it is possible that these mothers were actually naming their daughters after their desire to break the yoke of their oppressors off their necks. There by naming their children with one hope that this child  might escape.

Even so the first mention of Mary (other than the Mother of Jesus) is in the form of a prostitute who ignored the law givers of that day. Passion to be free brought her with out regard of those present, to the feet of Jesus. The only one able to free her. This woman did in fact break free of her yoke! Some theologians believe her to also be Mary of Bethany. Either way she if our picture of ultimate sacrifice and offering in surrender to the Lord.

*I did not do an exhaustive study of the Miriam in the geneology list of Chronicals 4.

Fragrance of Your Offering

So what is the fragrance of your offering? Is it one of extravangant worship born out of love and devotion to the Lord Jesus?

Or one of desire to know Him more? Perhaps you are a new Chistian and this concept of love as worship is all new to you.

Who ever you are or have become the answer is simple begin if you have not and if you have been loving and adoring Him press in for more. Why??? Because He is the greatest reward one could hope for! That is why. Both Mary and "John the beloved" understood this. Do not think that they are far from the Lord now that they are in heaven.

Those that are close to Him here shall be close to Him there. As it is written:

1Co 2:9 But as it is written, "Eye has not seen, nor ear heard," nor has it entered into the heart of man, "the things which God has prepared for those who love Him."

1Co 2:10 But God has revealed them to us by His Spirit; for the Spirit searches all things, yea, the deep things of God.
